About the NatWest SE100

The NatWest SE100 is an annual list that celebrates the achievements of 100 leading social enterprises. These organizations are selected based on their financial performance, impact, and overall contribution to society. Being part of this list is a significant honour, as it reflects both the financial stability and the social value created by the enterprises.

The SE100 was established in partnership with The Pioneers Post to bring visibility to the social enterprise sector, promoting those who not only strive for commercial success but also make a substantial positive difference in their communities. It provides a platform for social enterprises to gain recognition, network with peers, and access new opportunities for growth and collaboration.

The SE100 Award Ceremony

The award ceremony for the NatWest SE100 2024 was held on 16th July in London, unfortunately I was away, so was unable to attend. It was however a vibrant celebration of the diverse and inspiring work being done by social enterprises across the UK. The event brought together leaders, innovators, and changemakers from a variety of sectors. It was an evening of recognition, storytelling, and inspiration, highlighting the unique ways in which social enterprises are tackling some of the most pressing challenges in society today.

During the ceremony, several awards were presented, recognizing excellence in areas such as Innovation, Growth, Trailblazing Newcomer, Resilience, and Leadership. Each award category celebrated the unique strengths and contributions of the winning enterprises, showcasing a diverse range of industries and social missions.

Pioneering Newcomer Award

We applied for the Pioneering Newcomer Award, which is awarded to a social business start-up (up to five years trading) with a clear mission and entrepreneurial flair, who can demonstrate positive growth and impact, as well as great promise for the future. We didn’t win the award but were listed in the SE100, which is still an amazing achievemnet.

We want to congratulate the worthy winners of the Pioneering Newcomer Award. The award for the best new social enterprise went to Pocket Power and Zero Gravity. Pocket Power tackles the “poverty premium” by operating a phone service to speak to people on low incomes to help them save money on their household bills and connect them to the £23bn of unclaimed benefits and discounts each year. Zero Gravity supports students from low-opportunity backgrounds across all four corners of the UK into top universities and careers by leveraging the power of technology, a membership community, and mentoring.
