Celebrating our first year

Jenerous' first birthday

Jenerous has turned one! Last year on 13th September we held our launch party and officially started trading.  What a year it has been!  I don't think anyone could  have imagined what this year would be like with a global pandemic.  But despite the unusually challenging times we have many successes to celebrate, as we've started to achieve  our mission of changing lives and making a positive difference through fashion.

Our first year

As I reflect back over the year, our launch event seems so long ago.  Perhaps because so much has happened and changed over the last few months!

We launched Jenerous at the end of 2019 with a collection of ladies and girls dresses made from sustainable and deadstock fabrics.  The collection was made in our partner Fairtrade factory in India and provided fair and safe work to women from low socio-economic backgrounds. Our initial range also included some mini-me matching girls dresses, which provided a great way to use up excess fabric and keep our waste off cuts to a minimum. Sourcing sustainable and eco friendly fabric was one of our priorities as we developed the range and the majority of our collection was made from artisan hand printed organic cotton.

Early in 2020 we returned to India and developed new products with our factory and sourced new prints, providing regular work for the team. We are excited to have extended our collection, to include tops and accessories and have found a new additional Fairtrade factory that makes stretch garments, so we have some new modal jersey dresses in our Autumn collection that's coming soon!

As the Covid-19 pandemic began in early spring we have actively supported our team in India and honoured our orders.

Our impact so far

As the name suggests Jenerous is a brand that gives back and we are so pleased to have been able to donate from our first seasons' sales to provide saris for women suffering with leprosy. During the covid-19 crisis we have been raising funds for our factory in Bangalore, through the sale of our clothing and accessories. We've been donating 100% of the profits from our scarves and face mask and have given 124 days worth of salary so far, which has had a big impact on our factory workers and their families.

We have also gained increased interest in our clothing and the work that we are doing, which has been so encouraging. Our sales have enabled us to make a positive impact and stand with our team in India through what has been an extremely difficult time. So thank you so much for your support during our first year.

Looking ahead

We look forward to continuing our journey as we use fashion as a force for good, to change lives and create work opportunities that bring freedom from poverty. With lots of exciting new products and opportunities ahead we can’t wait to see what the next year looks like.

Here’s to another year of making a difference through stylish clothing that has a positive impact on people and the environment.
